Tasting Notes

COLOUR

Deep ruby red with garnet hues and excellent concentration. The colour intensity reflects both the ripeness of the grapes and the richness typical of Sicily’s sun-soaked vineyards.

AROMA

Complex and enveloping bouquet with aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, and dried figs. Notes of sweet spice, vanilla, and cocoa intertwine with hints of licorice, tobacco, and Mediterranean herbs. The nose is opulent yet balanced, combining warmth with refined aromatic depth.

PALATE

Full-bodied, velvety, and harmonious. The palate reveals rich, juicy dark fruit flavours supported by soft, rounded tannins and vibrant acidity. Hints of chocolate, coffee, and toasted oak develop toward a long, smooth finish with elegant spice and balsamic undertones. The texture is supple and mouth-filling, offering both generosity and balance.

CELLARING

Excellent now for its fruit richness and roundness, but capable of ageing gracefully for 6–8 years, gaining tertiary notes of dried fruit, leather, and sweet spice.

Food Pairings

Amàsso Montalto is a bold, generous Sicilian red ideal for rich, flavourful dishes. It pairs beautifully with grilled steak, braised lamb, or roasted game. Its sweet spice and dark fruit notes complement hearty pasta with ragù, aged cheeses, and Mediterranean recipes featuring tomato, herbs, and olive oil. For a regional match, enjoy it alongside eggplant parmigiana or slow-cooked beef stew. Serve at 18 °C to highlight its warmth, depth, and silky southern Italian character.
